Swansea Junior Football League

The league was founded in 1968 as the 'Christ church friendly league' by the late Rev. Clive Loosemore curate of Christ Church. The matches were played by Christ Church, St Nicholas on the Hill, Walter Road Cong and St Agustines for the St John Trophy.

In 1969-70 Season there was three divisions which included under 14's, under 13's and under 12's. The clubs names were ; Brynmill, Bonymaen Colts Christ Church, GWM Level Colts, Dunvant & Three Crosses, Gendros Colts, Gorseinon Colts, Gowerton Colts, Lady of Lourdes, Killay Colts, Morriston Athletic, Oystermouth Colts, Portmead Colts, St Nicholas On the Hill, Sketty Park, St Agustines, St Davids, St Josephs Colts, Tycoch United, Waunarlwydd, Welsh Juniors and Waun Wen Colts.

The League officers were; Chairman - Rev. Clive Loosemore, General Secretary - Mr William Hyett, Treasurer - Mr Jeff Harding and Members of the Committee; Mr Pat Kenealy, Mr Dave Hopkins, Mr Ken James, Mr Ken Davies and Mr Dave Griffiths.

The Under 11's were added in the season of 1970-71, and in 1971 following the departure of Rev. Clive Loosemore to become the Vicar of Bedlinog the league changed it's name to the Swansea Junior League From the 1972-73 season. The Under 10 Division was added in the 1980-81 season and Mini–football was introduced into the league in 2003.

The league only started with a couple of hundred players back in the 1960's, but now is proud to accommodate over 2000 boys and girls playing football in the Swansea Junior League. Making it one of the largest Junior Leagues in the Country.
